What's in this Dia cheat sheet

Dia is the AI browser from The Browser Company, the team behind Arc. It reached Windows on 6 October 2026, and Windows v1.1.0 shipped two days later with Arc-style pinned tabs. Dia doesn't publish a public shortcut page. The full list lives only inside the app at Settings → Shortcuts. This page collects the defaults from Dia's official changelog and the in-app menus, grouped the way you use them, with Windows and macOS tabs and a search box.

The one thing to know first

If you're coming from Arc, ⌘+1–9 no longer switches Spaces. In Dia it selects pinned tabs, and that binding is hardcoded. Profiles (Dia's equivalent of Spaces) use Ctrl+1–9 on Mac. If you try to assign ⌘+number to a profile, the field just clears. This is the most common complaint on r/diabrowser.

Dia for Windows is days old. The Browser Company hasn't published a Windows shortcut list. The keys below follow Dia's Mac defaults with ⌘ swapped for Ctrl and ⌥ for Alt. Rows marked Check Settings use the Control key on Mac and have no obvious Windows equivalent. Open Settings → Shortcuts to see what your build assigned.

How to see and customize Dia keyboard shortcuts

Dia keeps its only complete shortcut list in the app. On Mac open Dia → Settings → Shortcuts. On Windows open Settings from the Dia menu and choose Shortcuts.

  1. Find the action and click its current binding.
  2. Press the new combination. Function keys F1–F12 can be bound (since Dia 1.15).
  3. If the field clears instead of saving, the combination is reserved. ⌘/Ctrl+1–9 for pinned tabs is the usual culprit.

To check a binding without opening Settings, right-click a tab (⌃-click on Mac). Since Dia 1.21, the menu shows the shortcut next to every action, including your custom ones. Shortcut preferences sync across devices (Dia 1.28), so a remap on your Mac follows you to your other installs.

Coming from Arc? What carries over and what doesn't

Same as Arc: ⌘+L command bar, ⇧⌘C copy URL, ⌥⇧⌘C copy as Markdown, and ⌃+Tab for the recent-tabs switcher. Dia 1.51 trimmed that switcher to five tabs and matched Arc's layout. Arc-style pinned tabs outside Favorites and groups arrived in Mac v1.52.0 and Windows v1.1.0 on 8 October 2026, and they carry over when you import from Arc.

Different from Arc: ⌘+number selects pinned tabs, not Spaces. Profiles take Arc's Spaces role, and you reach them with ⌃+1–9, the profile switcher (⇧⌘P), or a swipe. ⌘+S is Focus Mode (hide tabs), not Save Page. ⌘+E opens Dia's AI Chat.

Dia Chat from the keyboard

Most Dia work happens in Chat. Type in the command bar and press ⌃⌘↩ to send it straight to Chat, or ⇧⌘↩ to search Google. Inside Chat, type @ to attach open tabs or connected tools such as @Gmail and @Google Calendar. Use ⌃⇧E to move between the page and the Chat box while you read.

Dia Browser Shortcuts — Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I see all Dia keyboard shortcuts?

Open Settings > Shortcuts in Dia. That is the official, complete list for your version, and you can remap entries there. Dia also shows the shortcut next to each action when you right-click a tab (Control-click on Mac). Dia does not publish a standalone shortcut page on its website, which is why this cheat sheet exists.

What is the shortcut to open Dia Chat?

Command+E on Mac and Ctrl+E on Windows opens Chat. Control+Shift+E on Mac moves focus between the page and the Chat input so you can start typing without the mouse. From the command bar (Command+L), Control+Command+Return sends what you typed straight to Chat and Shift+Command+Return sends it to Google Search.

Does Dia have keyboard shortcuts on Windows?

Yes. Dia for Windows launched on October 6, 2026 (v1.0) and v1.1.0 followed on October 8. Most shortcuts swap Command for Ctrl and Option for Alt, so Chat is Ctrl+E and the command bar is Ctrl+L. Dia has not published a separate Windows list, so check Settings > Shortcuts for actions that use the Control key on Mac, such as profile switching and Focus Chat.

How do I switch profiles or Spaces in Dia with the keyboard?

On Mac, Control+1 to Control+9 jumps straight to a profile (added in Dia 1.22) and Shift+Command+P opens the profile switcher. Users also report Option+Command+Left and Right to move to the previous or next profile. Command+1 to 9 is reserved for pinned tabs, so Arc users cannot rebind it to profiles. Pick Control or Option plus a number instead.

Why doesn't Command+1 switch Spaces in Dia like it did in Arc?

In Dia, Command+1 through Command+9 select pinned tabs, and that binding is hardcoded. Assigning Command+number to a profile in Settings > Shortcuts silently fails and the field clears. Use the default Control+1 to 9 for profiles, or assign Option+number.

How do I copy the current URL as a Markdown link in Dia?

Press Option+Shift+Command+C on Mac (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+C on Windows) to copy the page as a Markdown link, the same shortcut Arc used. Shift+Command+C (Ctrl+Shift+C on Windows) copies the plain URL.

How do I hide tabs or use Focus Mode in Dia?

Command+S (Ctrl+S on Windows) hides your tabs for Focus Mode in both vertical and horizontal tab layouts. Shift+Command+S shows tabs in the sidebar again, and Command+Backslash toggles the sidebar. Note that this replaces the usual Save Page shortcut.

How do I open split view in Dia?

Press Control+Shift+Equals on Mac to add a split view pane. With the mouse, Option-click the New Tab (+) button to open a New Tab Page beside the current tab, Option-click a bookmark to open it in a split, and Shift+Option-click a link inside a split to open it on the right side.

Which Arc shortcuts work in Dia?

Several Arc habits carry over: Command+L for the command bar, Shift+Command+C and Option+Shift+Command+C to copy links, Control+Tab for the recent-tabs switcher (now five tabs in Arc's layout), and Arc-style pinned tabs since Dia 1.52 on Mac and 1.1.0 on Windows. The big difference is that Command+number selects pinned tabs, not Spaces. Profiles use Control+number.
